In these letters Raffles describes incidents and matters of administration to his friend. He also petitions support in England concerning his rank and mentions his salary. He also includes information about his health and that of his wife, Olivia who died November 1814. These letters also cover the period in which Raffles worked with Colonel Robert Rollo Gillespie who brought accusations against Raffles in council.
